The Subscriber Engagement &amp; Newsletters team is responsible for discovering innovative ways to encourage existing subscribers to gain more from their subscription. As a member of this team you will collaborate with our internal Software Engineers to work on features aimed at the Economist’s subscriber base of over 1 million people.
With exciting projects around every corner, you’ll create APIs (Application Programming Interface) that are called on every page load across Economist.com and mobile apps which reach the majority of new subscribers as soon as they begin their journey, aiming to show them what benefits they now have access to. You will work on cross-team services for bookmarking articles, a notifications system to alert subscribers to new features &amp; offers, and a rebuild of our newsletters hub website. Accountabilities

<li>Report to the Engineering Manager of the Subscriber Engagement &amp; Newsletters team</li>
<li>Take responsibility for all stages in the software development life-cycle</li>
<li>Work within a Next.js and React app, building custom APIs (Application Programming Interface), deploying into AWS</li>
<li>Work with our designers and product owners to create a seamless user experience.</li>
<li>Design, write and deliver software to deliver in a strategic direction</li>
<li>Identify complexity in projects, services, processes and proactively work with the team to prioritise resolutions</li>

Senior software engineer

You’ll be one part of the small but mighty team of 2, reporting to the IT Manager who oversees the department. You’ll play a key role in ensuring all of the company IT solutions are efficiently supported throughout the organisation by being the face of the IT team and the first point of contact for all queries that come through the Service Desk.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

<li>Run the day to day operations of the Service Desk, maintaining a high level of customer service, ensuring all queries are met with enthusiasm and a prompt response</li>
<li>Using the helpdesk solution to log and resolve incidents and queries as efficiently as possible, referring queries as appropriate to the most relevant member of the IT Team, or our external partners if required</li>
<li>Keep the rest of the team aware of any major or ongoing support issues that could affect the performance of the team</li>
<li>Own the Starters/Movers/Leavers process in relation to technology, ensuring equipment is suitable for purpose and new staff members are onboarded and trained appropriately</li>
<li>Ensure daily administrative duties of the Service Desk position are completed</li>
<li>Accountable for ensuring the setup and maintenance of Mac &amp; Windows machines and other appropriate systems for all company users.</li>
<li>Coordinate the appropriate issuing, setup and support of Company IT equipment and Mobile numbers, liaising with third party suppliers</li>

IT service desk analyst

We are seeking a social media intern to assist with our strategy to extend the reach of The Economist’s journalism on digital platforms.
The audience team is at the heart of The Economist’s strategy to ensure our digital presence becomes as strong as our print heritage. It publishes content to social media, produces a growing portfolio of newsletters and sends push alerts to our apps. It assists the Newsdesk with the management of our wider digital operation, as well as seeking opportunities to reach new audiences and increase engagement among existing subscribers.
Ever more people are encountering our journalism for the first time on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or YouTube, where our accounts have a total of nearly 60m followers. However, size is not everything and we want to do more to turn this audience into the next generation of subscribers.
This one-year fellowship is an entry-level position with a salary of £26,000. It will be based in our main newsroom in central London but with a specific remit to reach audiences in North America, while remaining true to our 179-year-old brand.
The successful candidate will be an innovative, unstoppable news-hound with an interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs, politics and finance around the world, but particularly in North America. They will have suggestions for how we can tailor our content for a uniquely American audience and knowledge of the regional media landscape. They might have some junior experience as a journalist, either through internships or perhaps for a university newsroom, or have experience in telling engaging stories on-line. Importantly, they will understand how The Economist’s brand and social-media output fit into the global media landscape—and how we cover events such as the mid-term elections, the hearings of Congress’s January 6th 2021 committee, the threat to abortion rights and the Federal Reserve’s attempts to rein in inflation.
 
How you will contribute:

We are following a hybrid model and anticipate that we will spend at least two to three days per week in the office. The digital video editor works within the Daytime Digital team which creates, curates and manages all of the digital content across ITV Daytime - including GMB, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women. The team produces all of the output for social media, websites, apps, along with creating branded content for campaigns and programmes.
This role will manage and optimise the GMB YouTube channel with responsibility for creating short clips, pitching / editing compilation videos, and coming up with ideas which meet the objectives of the programme. The successful candidate will be the source of knowledge for the wider team on any new features or content preferences across YouTube, supporting overall monetisation efforts across YouTube and other platforms.
 
Minimum criteria:

<li>Experience using and packaging video content for YouTube and social media platforms, with an understanding of YouTube channel management tools</li>
<li>Proven experience in video editing and graphic design</li>
