The role

As Frontiers continues to grow, we are committed to maintaining quality at scale in our publication output. To meet this commitment, we are expanding our research integrity team and introducing this new role as a fantastic opportunity that will offer the successful candidate to have a direct impact on the Ethical standards in Scientific Publishing.

This role forms as part of a new team reporting to the research integrity auditor. As a research integrity auditor specialist, you will be the first point of contact to support with and investigate urgent, escalated cases in all journal portfolios.

Key responsibilities

  • Audit current pipelines and journals to anticipate potential research integrity issues
  • Investigate escalated cases by assessing manuscripts, editors, reviewers and authors involved
  • Evaluate current processes and provide proactive recommendations to prevent issues from happening
  • Assess the urgency of situations and escalate higher when necessary
  • Liaise with the research integrity managers & specialists to gather information and keep them informed of the measures to implement
  • Present the outcome of the investigation with a proposed course of action and ensure that all investigations reach a final conclusion

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Previous experience in academic/STM publishing with some exposure to research integrity or dealing with ethical issues
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to navigate through challenging conversations, gather information and manage stakeholders’ expectations in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • A pro-active mindset that enjoys finding solutions, preventing unnecessary escalations and taking ownership of situations
  • Educated to a MSc/PhD level or equivalent
  • Fluent in English (C2 level) and a good knowledge of Excel and Salesforce
