In this role you'll manage the planning & execution of the Leader of the Labour Party's visits and events.

The Labour Party is looking to recruit two Events and Visits Officers to provide support to the Leader’s Office. The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that visits and events are planned effectively and in accordance with political and strategic aims of the Leader of the Labour Party.

The successful candidate will have experience of working on events and visits from conception to delivery, knowledge of the current political situation, strong organisation skills, with an ability to plan, prioritise and schedule work, and the ability to direct technical requirements when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work with relevant stakeholders, colleagues in the regions and nations to develop and execute successful visits and events
  • To work closely with HQ Events Team on briefs for major events and interventions when required
  • To work closely with Regional teams to deliver Leader’s visits in the Regions and Nations
  • To produce operational notes and briefing documents within the deadlines set by the Private Secretary
  • To liaise with the Media, Digital teams and Press Office to ensure maximise coverage by broadcast, media and press for visits and events
  • Ensure the completion of all visits preparations are in place and signed off by Communications Team and the Private Secretary in a timely manner
  • Work with the Head of Private Office and the Director of Conference and Events on the Leader of the Labour Party at Annual Conference and detailed planning of their Annual Conference programme

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Experience of working on events and visits from conception to delivery
  • Experience of delivering successful visits under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Experience of planning and delivering politically strategic events and visits
  • Experience of monitoring and recording expenditure
  • Experience of handling sensitive information discreetly and in confidence Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Labour Party and the current political situation
  • Knowledge of online events and visits software including Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Knowledge of running high profile visits
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisation skills, with an ability to plan, prioritise and schedule work
  • Ability to direct technical requirements when required
  • Ability to monitor and control income and expenditure
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Full driving license would be desirable
