How can Creative Access help me progress my career in the creative industries?

Whether you are planning to build on experience already gained in your target industry or want to change course and enter an industry for the first time, Creative Access shares opportunities from employers who are taking applications right now.

How can I progress my career?

Our Opportunities Board is the best place to keep your eye on new mid-level positions across the creative industries.

Mid-level opportunities are typically jobs that require significant experience (several years is typical but this can vary). Examples of this would be a production coordinator role in Film and TV, an editor in book publishing, a project manager in communications, or a mid-weight graphic designer.

What industries does Creative Access work with?

Creative Access partners with organisations in the creative industries to improve diversity, equity and inclusion through access to career progression through the roles we promote. Industries we work with include television and film, publishing, journalism, theatre, music, talent management, museums and galleries, campaigning and politics, and communications, PR, and marketing.

Where will my mid-level job be based?

While it’s true that the creative industries are traditionally centred in London, we increasingly promote jobs in Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Oxford, Edinburgh, and other regions. Jobs with hybrid working patterns or fully remote jobs can also be an advantage when working from other parts of the country, so make sure to read any fine print about location.

What experience do I need to secure a mid-level role?

As an individual applying for a mid-level role, you are likely to have already established a solid foundation of experience and skills in your field. However, we encourage employers that partner with Creative Access to think openly and imaginatively when considering different experiences and transferable skills.

Because of this, don’t be afraid to showcase examples of experience you have gained outside of your chosen field or industry if these are relevant to how effective you will be in the role – even if there are areas of a ‘Knowledge, skills and experience’ section that you don’t feel as confident about.
